About

What is the Slingshot World Cup?

It is the world championship of competitive slingshot shooting, also called the Slingshot World Championship, or the Campeonato del Mundo de Tirachinas in Spain. The sport's international body is the World Slingshot Association (WSA). It was founded in Shanghai in November 2019, is registered in Switzerland, and has offices in Italy and China. Each championship is run by a host national federation working with the WSA. In 2026 that was the Spanish Slingshot Sport Association (AETD).

Precision

The headline event. Shooters fire at small targets from 10 meters indoors, with targets from 4 to 8 centimeters across worth different points. It runs through preliminaries, semifinals and a final. Sights are allowed.

Classic

The old-school test. No sights, no aiming marks, and bands tied on by hand. It runs through preliminaries and semifinals, and the scores add up to the final ranking.

Team Precision

Nations against the field. Every team adds up its round scores as the field shrinks from 12 teams to 8, then 4, then the last 2 in the 2026 final.

Age groups

The 2026 results sheets split Precision into Senior Male, Senior Female, Junior/Teen and Child. The WSA rulebook draws the adult line at 18.

Rules summarized from the WSA competition rulebook (4th edition, effective January 2022) and the official 2026 results sheets. The rulebook also lists Rapid Shooting and Frameless events, which are optional at world championships. Details can change between editions.

History

Every edition so far

A young sport with a short history: three world championships so far, in Italy, China and Spain.

The gaps are real: the WSA's own announcements and results for 2020 to 2023 are thin, so only editions backed by a source are listed. Brunetti was re-elected WSA president for 2026 to 2030 at the Las Mesas meeting. A next world championship host has not been announced in anything we could find.

Go shoot, go watch

You do not need a national team jersey to follow along. The WSA lists an athlete registration for anyone who wants to compete internationally, and national federations and local tournaments are the way in.
